Change in Body Weight

Group RH

After 12 weeks of RE therapy and HAART, the mean body weight increased by 7.2 kg (p = 0.0001). Of the 20 subjects, body weight increased in 17, remained unchanged in 2, and decreased in 1.

Group H

After 12 weeks of HAART, the mean body weight decreased by 0.05 kg (p = 0.605). Of the 20 subjects, body weight increased in 9 remained unchanged in 1, and decreased in 10.

Group R

After 12 weeks of HAART, the mean body weight increased by 6.6 kg (p = 0.0001). Of the 10 subjects, body weight increased in 10.

Group U

After 12 weeks in the untreated group, the mean body weight increased by 1.1 kg (p = 0.162). Of the 10 subjects, body weight increased in 7 and decreased in 3.

Implication from the Above Outcomes

The above outcomes showed that the combination of HAART and RE therapy, and RE therapy alone are efficacious in the enhancement of body weight.
